Rube Goldberg Machines – Eighth Grade Science
Recently, the eighth-grade science classes had a project in which they had to create a Rube Goldberg Machine. In this machine, they had to demonstrate the Law of Conservation of Energy.
Rube Goldberg Machine: A complex machine made of everyday materials designed to accomplish a simple task.
The Law of Conservation of Energy: Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, only transferred and/or transformed.

Noah’s comments on his machine:
“The hardest part was actually making it work. I took over 30 takes and I had to change many parts of it along the way. The end part, where the car pops the balloon, was the hardest because the car went off track many times and the pin wasn’t popping the balloon.”
“The most fun part was just creating the original design. I sketched it on paper and had fun puzzling over the transfers of energy. Building it was also really fun, though I made a huge mess.”
