Mr. Angelopulos - New Teachers to Westlake

Mr. Angelopulos – New Westlake Teachers

This year, Westlake middle school has a handful of new teachers. We are excited to have these new teachers, and thought it might be cool to have a feature on each of them. So without further ado, let’s see Westlake’s new additions!

Mr. Angelopulos is an 8th grade social studies teacher who has been teaching for one year prior to Westlake. Before Westlake, he taught 9th and 12th graders.

What brought you to Westlake?

Mr. Angelopulos answered, “I really did not know much about Westlake before I got here, but I am so happy I am here!”

What made you decide to pursue a career in education?

Mr. Angelopulos decided to start his career of teaching because, “Both of my parents were teachers growing up, and I saw the impact that they had on the lives of their students and I am hoping to do the same.” When asked what his favorite thing about teaching was, he answered, “My favorite thing about education is seeing the students grow throughout the year. It is crazy to see how much students can change in the matter of nine months.”

If you could be one animal for the rest of his life, what would it be?

He answered, “If I could be one animal I would choose to be a buffalo because they are such a cool animal and I love CU.” (CU is Colorado University, which is a college in Boulder, Colorado.)

What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?

Mr. Angelopulos’ favorite thing to do outside of school is to hang out with the people he loves (family and friends).

What is a fun fact about you?

When asked for a fun fact about himself, he chose to state, “One fun fact about me is that I have never had a brain freeze.”

What do you recommend that someone try at least once in their life?

He responded with, “One thing I would recommend that someone try at least once is skydiving. It is such an exhilarating experience with really cool views.”

Mr. Angelopulos was then faced with a question that will determine the fate of his future…

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mr. Angelopulos replied, “One food I would eat for the rest of my life is pizza.”

All in all, we are thrilled to have Mr. Angelopulos teaching 8th-grade social studies at our school!
