Mrs. Smith: A new teacher at Westlake

Ms. Smith is a new 7th grade Language Arts teacher here at Westlake Middle School!

What brought you to Westlake?

Mrs. Smith recently moved to Broomfield and said, “I was researching where I would like to teach, and I discovered Westlake is the best middle school and THE place to be.”

What made you decide to pursue your career in education?

Mrs. Smith decided at a young age that she wanted to be a teacher! Not many teachers decide this early.  “An amazing teacher let me plan the group rotations and activities one day in 2nd grade, and I was hooked!” Mrs. Smith seems like she loves to teach. One of her favorite things to see is, “… the look on students’ faces the moment they ‘get it.'”  Many students can agree that this is not only fine for the teachers to see, but also amazing for the students too!

If you could choose to be an animal, what animal would you choose and why?

Mrs. Smith stated that if she could be one animal it would be, “… my dog, Gus.  He lives a pretty sweet life.”

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you eat?

She revealed that the food she would eat is, “Steak- medium rare.”

What is your favorite thing to do (outside of school)?

She said her favorite things to do are “Watch football and bake.”

What is a fun fact about you?

Mrs. Smith came up with a pretty cool fact! She states, “I lived in Alaska for 5 years!”

What do you recommend someone try at least once in their life?

Mrs. Smith recommends everyone try, “Kickboxing.”
